{"id":1049,"date":"2017-09-19T16:32:11","date_gmt":"2017-09-19T06:32:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.apexei.com.au\/blog\/?p=1049"},"modified":"2026-01-26T18:27:29","modified_gmt":"2026-01-26T07:27:29","slug":"assembling-your-fitout-team","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.apexei.com.au\/blog\/assembling-your-fitout-team\/","title":{"rendered":"Office Fit Out Checklist &#8211; Step 2 Assembling your fit out team"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Assembling your fit out team<\/h4>\n<p>Regardless of your decision to move or stay you will need a team of people to assist in the office refurbishment or office relocation process.\u00a0 People on your fit out team need to be creative, good numbers crunchers, fluent with schedules, and most of all comfortable in making decisions.<\/p>\n<p>Assign roles and responsibilities to individual team members which could include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Liaising with real-estate agents<\/li>\n<li>Engaging\u00a0removalists<\/li>\n<li>Working with interior\u00a0designers<\/li>\n<li>Collaborating\u00a0with Council and\u00a0Private Certifiers<\/li>\n<li>Selecting finishes and furniture types<\/li>\n<li>Reviewing quotes from interior designers and office fit out companies<\/li>\n<li>Communicating with\u00a0your own IT department and the office fit out company for a seamless transition<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring successful completion of milestones.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Assigning roles also enables team members to get a better idea of which members are working on related tasks.<\/p>\n<h4>Nominate your team leader<\/h4>\n<p>Every good team has a leader, and this is no exception.\u00a0 You will need to select a leader that can take in the viewpoints and concerns of those around them and then make the best decision for your company.<\/p>\n<p>There will be a lot of angst regarding change management, staff can become insecure and fear for their jobs.\u00a0 An office fit out or a office relocation can be very disruptive for a company. Therefore good communication with employees is important for effective change management. Ensure your department heads keep up to date and are aware of what is confidential and what is not.<\/p>\n<p>Depending on the size of your company you may need to appoint a change manager to ensure a smooth transition.\u00a0A dedicated change manager will play a key role in ensuring a smooth transition into a new office fit out.<\/p>\n<p>As well as having department managers and financial controllers on your relocation team, include general staff in at least a few of the meetings.
