This is the final in a 3 part series on our guide to Sydney office fitout and relocation’s.
We took a few calls on the last one, so it looks like we’ve hit a nerve with people, and that’s good.
So without further ado let’s get back to it.
Step 14 – Work Health and Safety – (2 to 4 weeks) - As every work place is different yet similar, your new work place will have different yet similar risks associated with it. Before you move into your new office space, Work Health and Safety systems need to be correctly assessed and implemented.
Step 15 – Security – (1 week) – Your new commercial office probably should have some kind of signature system if you are using manuals keys… or at least change the locks! Get your Relocation team to liaise with the Building Manager, they may require a key for emergency access. If you were planning to install a swipe access system your builder should have already spoken to the Building Manager about integrating with their system, if not you might want to bring it up.
Step 16 – Occupancy Certificate – (hopefully a few days) – Before you can occupy your new fitout your Relocation Team needs to acquire the Occupation Certificate, from either council or your Private Certifier.
Step 17 – Defects Report – (2 to 3 days) – Once the site has reached Practical Completion it is time to do a defects report with your fitout contractor. Discuss anything you are not happy with, and have a copy of the commercial fitout plans and detailed quote with you. Make sure all is as described.
Step 18 – Collation – Get all your documents together in a folder and keep it safe. Having instructions, warranties, chair types and paint colours all at your finger tips can be invaluable in later years. Copy any files you had on your PC to a CD or DVD and keep it in the folder as well.
Step 20 – Maintenance – Keep up to date with maintenance ie. Air Conditioning and chilled water filters. Use whatever reminder system that works for you. Your fitout is much like your car, you have to keep the oil up to it if you want to keep it running and looking its best.
Well that’s it for the subject of Sydney office fitout and relocation for a while. A more comprehensive guide is available on our website, and it’s free for you to use.
See you on the next post
